The brand announces dates for the fourth annual Mongoose Jam
Madison, Wisc. – May 20, 2015 – Mongoose Bikes today announced it will head back to Woodward West in Tehachapi, California, for the fourth annual Mongoose Jam. After two years at Camp Woodward in Woodward, Pennsylvania, the brand has decided to bring the event back to where it all began. On August 5th through 7th, twenty-five pros and five amateurs will compete over a three-day period, pushing themselves to new skill levels in order to keep progressing the sport of BMX.
Mongoose riders Greg Illingworth, Steve McCann, Kevin Peraza, Paul Ryan, and Ben Wallace will each captain one of five teams at the BMX-only event. Each captain will invite four pro BMX athletes to join their teams. They will also draft one amateur from among the Woodward West campers during the Amateur Contest, the first contest to take place at the Jam.
The athletes will compete for a piece of a $50,000 prize purse as well as individual win bonuses. Teams will earn points according to their placement after each contest – dirt, park, and street. Following the final event, an overall Mongoose Jam first place team will be crowned.
“Since its inception, Mongoose has always supported pro athletes and cultivated new talent,” said Steve Wilcox, Sports Marketing Manager, Mongoose. “We are continuing the tradition through the Mongoose Jam, bringing pro and amateur athletes together to compete side by side. We’re stoked to be hosting our fourth Jam, and we have to thank Camp Woodward for continuing to partner with us for another great contest.”
"I thought the Mongoose Jam was an amazing event even before I started working for the brand,” commented Leigh Ramsdell, Mongoose Team Manager. “The contest showcases how the brand is giving back to the sport of BMX in a fun way. It’s awesome that Mongoose is putting the contest on for the fourth year in a row!”
As captains select new athletes for their teams, Mongoose will share updates on its website. In addition, the brand will post event news, release Jam teaser edits, and announce giveaways as the Mongoose Jam gets closer.
