Woodward West offers transportation services to camp on Sundays and from camp on Saturdays. This service is offered for all weeks of summer camp. To reserve your transportation services, please log into your camper’s account online. Upon Logging in, you will select the required forms button and then select your camper’s itinerary. Inside camper’s itinerary, you will find our transportation options button. Note: Transportation options will be closed 10 days prior to each week so reserve your transportation services early. BAKERSFIELD TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Bakersfield’s Meadows Field Airport (BFL), Amtrak train or Greyhound Bus are located 60 miles from camp. Fee: $40 each way. BFL is serviced by US Airways and United Airlines. NOTE: Campers should arrive at airport between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays and depart on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Campers will be picked up by a staff member wearing a Woodward West staff shirt and transported via camp vehicle.
LOS ANGELES TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located 120 miles SW of camp. Fee: $125 each way. LAX is serviced by all major airlines. NOTE: Campers should arrive at airport on Sundays before 12:00 p.m. We will be picking campers up between 8am and 12pm. Saturday departures should be scheduled between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. ONLY. NOTE: Children are collected at respective baggage claim terminals upon arrival by staff members wearing a Woodward West staff shirt.
We suggest you pack a snack or spending money for the bus ride to camp (2 hours); they will arrive at camp in time for dinner unless there are flight delays in which case meal vouchers are provided for our canteen. Delayed departures and arrivals can be difficult to accommodate. Because of the distance from LAX to the camp, please be aware that we can only make one trip each day—delayed flights mean that all other campers must wait for the last flight arrival.
Los Angeles Park-n-Ride non-airport pick-ups take place at Park-n-Ride at 11500 Aviation Blvd, LA, 90048 (corner of Imperial and Aviation, beneath CA-105). Fee: $100 each way. Campers must be ready to load transportation vehicle on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. The Park-n-Ride pick-up takes place after all LAX campers arrive. This sometimes causes delay. Campers will be dropped off on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.
OTHER TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Northern California pick ups are in Tracy, California at the West Valley Mall (3200 N. Naglee Road). Fee: $125 each way. Meet outside in mall parking lot in front of the main entrance, near the food court. Campers must be ready to load transportation vehicle on Sundays at 9 a.m. Campers will be dropped off on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. Travel time is approx. 5 hours from Tracy to Woodward West. Please send a lunch or spending money for the trip.
Tehachapi Municipal Airport is located nearby for private planes. Amtrak (bus connection) and Greyhound also have Tehachapi stops. Fee: $20 each way. Arrive Sunday before 2:00 p.m.; depart Saturday between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
ATTENTION! Bikes MUST be boxed for all flights and Greyhound Bus! This is optional for Amtrak (bring a lock for un-boxed bikes) No box needed for Tracy/Park&Ride Shuttle. Bikes can also be shipped to the camp office ahead of time via UPS or Fed Ex. Your local bike shop can assist in assuring that your bike is safely packaged for shipment.
A call tag must be sent through shipper for bike to be returned through these means.
