The Skateboard Program

The Lowdown: Woodward West’s got spots for days. If you’re trying to branch out and skate some of the most legit parks in the West, look no further. Concrete bowls, rainbow rails, ledges, wall rides, mini ramps—a skater’s heaven. Campers from all across the map are invited to shred our parks with some of the best in the business. Every week you’ll get the chance to session with the very pros you’ve seen in the magazines and rest assured they’ll help you step your game up—next level skating. No doubt, a trip out here with us will not leave you disappointed.

LOCATION: Beautiful Stallion Springs is situated in the Tehachapi Mountain at 4,000’ elevation, affording it perfect summer temperatures. No more melting in that Arizona heat or those frigid East Coast winters. Stallion Springs, California is about 15 miles from Tehachapi and just 2 hours north of Los Angeles. We’re in the heart of it all.

thumb_IMG_7107INSTRUCTION: Games of S.K.A.T.E with the pros, are you kidding me? And you thought your local sessions were where it’s at. Every day campers receive upwards of 2 hours personal instruction from our professionals, followed by an additional 9 hours of open session where you’ll get the chance to work out the kinks and shred the ramps in a low-key, fun environment surrounded by your peers and the pros you got in tight with earlier in the day. Encouragement, challenge and progression are staple parts of our program and the pros will be leading you all the way. All that considered and we’re talking a whole new bag of tricks and fresh skills you can show off to all the peoples back home.

VISITING PROS: We can’t spoil all the surprise, but word in the streets is Woodward West has some big names rolling through this year. Seasons past we’ve had homies like Corey Duffel, Shaun White and more, which means you’ll get to witness firsthand the mastery and style of top-notch skaters intimately involved in the progression of Skateboarding. We do our best to invite skaters of all avenues to guarantee our campers get exposed to it all. Best of all, these guys are down- to- earth and ready to help you learn some of the tricks of the trade that help them succeed day in and out. Skating all day takes a ton out of ya, but these shredders are from another world and will be putting down some demos and even a few competitions while you take a breather. Interaction and some free shows? Yeah, we got that covered. Check back for updated listings of all the guys rolling through. http://www.woodwardwest.com/action-sports/skateboarding/skateboard-visiting-pros.html

thumb_IMG_7315FACILITIES: Indoor, outdoor, wood, concrete, we’ve got it all. Our parks are complemented with an assortment of ledges, boxes, ramps and rails and pillared with tranny of all shapes and sizes. We’ve got options and we want you to test your abilities on a little bit of everything. And the best part, nobody here is gonna hassle you for riding anything—no security guards, no angry owners—this is a skater’s paradise in all sense of the word. GAMES, CONTESTS, and AWARDS: All of our campers will have the chance to compete in all kinds of camp activities that include prizes from many of our generous sponsors. These contests are a great way to showcase all that you’ve learned and gain a sense accomplishment for all your hard work. Furthermore, events like the mini ramp comp, S.K.A.T.E and others serve as fun ways to return to the roots of our sport. Best of all, you’ll have some healthy competition with all your new camp friends.

HOUSING: Campers are housed with other campers their same age and sport. They enjoy clean, air-conditioned cabins themed after the Old West.  There are bathrooms and showers in or adjacent to each cabin. Every cabin has a counselor in it, along with up to 14 of your new or old friends. For campers age 9 and under, see our “Youth Camp” section.
